How far will I go

At some stage there will need to be a significant investment. How much are we willing to invest or when do we pull the plug or pass it on.
Not there yet but will need to have an idea in mind or a mark in the sand.
Would we be willing to mortgage the house or use some of our savings?
Having spent my whole working life as an employee and not having to take risks. Just had a regular income coming in. Also not being entrepreneurial I am not sure where to go with it. Sounds good in my head?
